Coach nicol has been involved in competitive swimming and water polo since 1993. Her coaching career started in 1997. Since then she has coached developmental, age group, high school, college, and masters swimming. Those career decisions were based on an ongoing interest in growing the sport of swimming in traditionally underserved communities. She is a certified coach with USA Swimming, United States Masters Swimming, and the American Swimming Coaches Association. She volunteers on several local and regional athletic and governmental boards. She is also a member of the International Philosophers of Sport, a group of philosophers who share, peer-review, and publish academic papers related to sports. In addition to making each swim practice and season it can be, coach nicol is always learning about the ways participation in youth sports impacts both the bodies and identity development of competitive athletes.
